Jackson Hole, Wyoming is known for its stunning mountain scenery and world-class skiing. While skiing and boarding are major attractions to this magical winter destination, there are also plenty of apres-ski activities for non-skiers in Jackson Hole. Here are some of our recommendations.
1. Staying at Snow King Resort
Because of it's location at the base of Snow King Mountain, guests of Snow King Resort can enjoy all of the activities Snow King Mountain has to offer, including: sledding, snow tubing, and the uber fun Cowboy Coaster that drops 600 feet from start to finish. The mountain also features a new king gondola that guests can ride to get stunning Instagram-worthy views and photos of Jackson Hole. 2. Town Square Shopping
From shopping and sipping hot cocoa, to skating on the Town Square, Snow King Resort guests only have a short walk to the famed Town Square where they can enjoy quaint shops, restaurants or ice skate in the center of the Square amidst the notable elk antler arches. If you have your own skates, there is no fee to skate, but guests can rent skates for a nominal fee and grab some hot cocoa afterwards.
3. Grand View Spa
Treat yourself to a relaxing spa day at Snow King Resort's new Grand View Spa located in the Grand View Lodge. This 9,000 square foot spa features Wyoming's only halotherapy salt lounge and also features a co-ed infrared sauna. Halotherapy is an effective way of using salt's natural anti-inflammatory properties. The spa's infrared sauna is good for detoxification, relaxation, pain relief and improved circulation. Both perfect respites after a full day of activities.
4. Wildlife Tours
Jackson Hole is home to diverse wildlife. There are many tour operators who offer guided trips into both Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, and Snow King Adventure Tours is one of them. Guests of Snow King Resort can book half or full day guided trips to spot bison, ellk, moose and maybe even bears and wolves. Snow King Resort's Adventure Center Concierge can make arrangements and guests can leave directly from the resort lobby.
5. Sip, Sip, Hooray!
Jackson Hole Winery - definitely an apres-ski activity for wine lovers who love to support local! The winery's winter tasting room is open Thursday through Sunday by appointment only. Check out Snake River Brewing for those who love locally-owned craft beers just a few steps from Town Square. Don't miss Jackson Hole Still Works for gin and vodka made in small batches using locally sourced Wyoming grain and crisp mountain water. Or, belly up to the bar and sit in a saddle at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar for one of its signature cocktails.
6. National Museum of Wildlife Art
Explore more than 5,000 unique collections of wildlife-inspired art from around the world at the National Museum of Wildlife Art. The museum overlooks the 25,000 acre National Elk Refuge and is 2.5 miles north of the town of Jackson
7. Snowshoeing and Cross-Country Skiing in Grand Teton National Park
Travel off the beaten path and enjoy the snow-covered landscapes of Grand Teton Natioinal Park with a guided snowshoetour. It's a serene and picturesque way to explore the area for all ages.
8. Sleigh Rides at the National Elk Refuge
A magical way to experience one of North America's largest elk herd migrations via a horse drawn sleigh. More than 5,000 elk migrate to the refuge from December to April. This bucket list item allows guests to get up close views of the herd. Bundle up and dress warmly.
9. Snow Mobiling
An adventurous way for the whole family to enjoy the winter season and trails of snow. There are one and multi-day tour options with possible peeks at wildlife along the way.
